What a comedian!

Well alot of people may have seen the lovely photo of our Ryan in the paper today! If not then you either don't read the examiner or your blind! Well for those that dont know about it Ryan is entered in the Raw Comedy heats that are here in launceston on the 12th March and last week the publicity person asked him if he would be the Launceston face for them. Well after a little pushing from me he decided to do it. Mind you he didn't want anyone to know that he was enetering the competition as he doesn't want anyone he knows to turn up, you see he tries to tell me he is a little shy and nervouse! He is so silly I dont know what he has to be scared about as he has talked plenty of times at church and he will more than likely not know anyone that is even there so who cares if he stuffs up no one will ever know! Anyway I am really excited for him and I hope that he does well. The winner of the heat goes to Melb to compete with the other winners from around Australia and the Australian winner then goes on to compete at the world competitions. Here is the transcript of the article for those who haven't seen it!

Ryan hopes to get last laugh at joke contest
BY CLAIRE VAN RYN

AS PART of the Melbourne International Comedy Festival, Raw Comedy is sweeping the country hunting for the Hughesies and Hillsies of the future.
Launceston funny man Ryan Weeden has put up his hand to compete in the Launceston open-mic stand- up heat on March 12, 7pm, at the Uni Bar, Newnham.
Wife Angela dobbed him in for the gig, registering behind his back and calling to let him know.
"I nearly had a car accident when she told me," he said. Mr Weeden entered the Hobart heat seven years ago, but since the Beaconsfield Gold Mine worker moved to Launceston, he hasn't had the chance for another crack.
"Anyone can tell a dirty joke," he said. "I want to bring something different, something you can bring your grandmother along to."
The nervous father-of- three was mum about his material, but said he milked all aspects of life for a giggle. "I'm going to recommend the barman give 50c beers before I go on," he laughed. "Five minutes is a very long time."
Registrations are still open for the competition that has helped launch the comedy careers of big-name comedians including Damian Callinan, Josh Thomas and Anthony Menchetti. Jokesters successful in their heat will go on to the national grand final at the 2009 Melbourne International Comedy Festival on April 19.

Newstead Heights Family BBQ

On Monday evening Charlotte's school had a welcome BBQ for families of the school. It was a lovely night with the weather being great and lots of people their. It was nice to be able to catch up with some of the staff that are working with Lottie this year as well as have Ryan meet some of the families that he wouldn't meet normally due to his work! Amelia loved the sausages and the sandpit, with William just loving the sandpit and the little truck ride on. He had heaps of fun riding down the little slope over and over again.

Charlotte also had a ovely night with a swing on the Liberty swing, which is a swing designed for people in wheelchairs to be able to use while still sitting in their wheelchairs.

Before we went to the BBQ we were looking for a food preserver so we visited a few shops and outside Harvey Norman Amelia insisted that I take a photo of her posing! What a lovely poser she is!

Mum's time out!

On the weekend I went on a trip all by myself! I left Launceston Friday evening and drove to Hobart without any kids!!!!!! My mum was having a hip replacement last Friday so I went down on the weekend to help out and keep her company. I arrived at around 7pm and went straight to the hospital to visit her and like I expected she was zonked out on lots of drugs and didn't feel at all well. I stayed at Mum's and woke up on Sunday with a touch of Gastro!!!!!! William had been chucking all day Thursday and I thought that he was doing well on the Friday as he kept everything in. But when I spoke to Ryan that day I realised that he had got worse with chucking and really bad squirts! So William and I would have a made a great pair if we had been together. Anyway, I spent pretty much of the day at the hospital with Mum keeping her company as well as spending a little bit of my time in the loo! I managed to go for a walk around town for an hour to get some fresh air which was great! Later that evening I promised to babysit for my wonderful Nephews while their mum and dad went to a birthday party. I must say that they were really great, we had a heap of fun with posing for the camera and then we enjoyed singing some songs and drawing some faces. they even went to bed without complaint when I asked, talk about BONUS. I even got to read some of my book.

On Sunday I visited Mum in hospital again and she even managed to get up and go for a little walk, a big improvement from just getting out of bed and standing! She was even able to sit in the chair and eat some lunch! I left around 1.30 and travelled home where I walked into the house of the dead! poor Ryan had a bad run of things as William had been up screaming for a couple hours as he was sore from nappy rash. I asked Ryan did he miss me and his response was 'I don't know how you get everything done in the day!' I then asked if he appreciated me for the way I run the kids and the house and he said he did! Oh to feel loved.

I must say that I did miss the family heaps, BUT, I also enjoyed that I was able to get away and have some Mummy time to! I realised that it was the first time that I had been away from the kids since William was born! The sad thing was that Ryan ended up with the gastro bug on the Monday and had to have the day off, even though he was planning on going to work he realised his limitations very early that it may not be a good idea.
Playng games! Josh and Henry love the camera!
I remembered that I had the tripod so I was able to take some pictures using the timer.
Henry and Josh are so funny with what they say and do!

Valentines Day

It seems like such a long time ago but I thought I would blog this yummy desert that we ate for Valentines day. After our trip to Festivale we decided that we could make our own Berry dessert for much cheaper than the ones they were selling. We got some light vanilla icecream and let it melt a little, just enough to be able to stir frozen rasberries through. We then put the icecream into large tupperware muffin trays and covered it with plastic wrap and let it freeze. Once it was set we pushed it out onto plates and then served it with some more berries. It was really yummy!

Festivale 2009

Well we had a lovely day yesterday as we went as a family to Festivale 2009! It was the first year that we had gone and apart from the cost it was really good! Amelia and William had a chicken burger and Amelia had a Bratwurst sausage and a caramel ice cream. William also had a yummy sticky lollypop that he LOVED! Ryan had some fish and chips and some Indian Naan bread. I was unable to choose from the different types of food so I just decided to get a piece of NAan bread as well. The entertainment was great, Amelia really loved teh guy walking around with an emu on stilts. They had heaps of roving performers as well as three stage areas set up with a variety of singing, dancing, and acrobats. William loved a little play in the play area set up by playgroup to keep the kids entertained. Amelia loved watching the people make balloon sculptures. She even got a sword made! It was a great day, with great food, great entertainment and great weather. Unfortunately we only lasted for about 2 hours as the kids has had enough. I mentioned to Ryan that next year I would love to go but without the kids as it would have been nice to just sit under the shade of a tree and listen to some of the music being performed. That was the great thing with City Park they have lots of shady big trees when it is a sunndy day.

Watch out Amelia is on a mission with that sword

Wow what a big mouth you have Will!

Playdo fun!

William having a ball of a time on the play equipment set up by playgroup Tasmania

This is the sample serve he got of some fish and chips

Mmmm Yum Ryan eating some fish and chips

It was all a bit much for Lottie!

Sitting back and relaxing listening to some music

Yum Yum Yum

Amelia loved this guy on the Emu!

Playground Friday!

Well the weather in Launceston has been lovely over the last week, which always happens when teh kids go back to school! So William and I decided on Friday to go to Tailrace park for a play as it was just to two of us, plus, I wanted to get him tiered out so he would sleep the night!
He had such a fun time playing on the play equipment and he really enjoyed the other little girl who was there! They were having fun copying each other and trying to get onto the big kids play equipment! I must say it was a bit stressful for me watching as their was a big fall from teh top if he moved the wrong way!

Cheeky William climbing the steps to go down the slide.

He loves the slide, luck that even through it was a hot day the slide was not burning legs hot!

Rock and Roll baby!

Little Lizard

I was trying to get the picture from the camera but it is being a bit silly so I will post this with no photo, photo may come later!

A few weeks ago when my Mum was staying she told me that she saw a little lizard in the kitchen, but it snuck under the skirting board and she lost it! Well suprise suprise as I as sitting on the computer what should I see out of the corner of my eye in the lounge room on the carpet but was the same (hopefully!) little lizard. Now for those that know me I am such a baby when it comes to creepy crawly things, however since we have lived in this new house I am slowly getting over the panic I have when I see a spider. although BIG huntsman are still a worry! So big brave me got a little container and manged to catch the lizard and place it outside! I would like to say that I am proud of myself as I was cool, calm and collect in the whole process. Who needs Ryan around for catching creepy crawlies!

Stake Conferene Weekend, Camping and more birthday Photos

Well we ha a busy weekend this weekend, On Sat morning we travelled to Port Sorell to stay with Ryan's Sister and their family. We decided to pitch our tent out the front of their house. In the afternoon Ryan and Rob went to the Leadership meeting for Stake Conference while Coral, Abbey, Amelia William and I went looking for new sneakers for Amelia as her sneakers are falling apart. After shopping we travelled back and Coral took Amelia and Will to the park then onto the beach where William and Amelia decided to go and get in the water. Abbey came back and got me to drive the car back down and collect teh wet little munchkins as William was shivering from being cold, he didn't want to get out however and screamed blue murder when we took him out.
The two Crossin girls babysat our kids while Coral and I went in to the Stake centre to attend the evening session on Stake Conf. It was an excellent meeting as we had Elder Baxter the Area President and Elder Vinson from the 7o visiting. Both gave wonderful talks, and the spirit was strong. After conference we went and ate dinner at La Porchetta and I mentioned to Ryan that this was the first time in a very long time we have been out to dinner with another adult couple and didn't have kids! After dinner we travelled hoe to a quiet house with all kids in bed. I m,ust say that the girls did a great job looking after Amelia and Will as I did here that Amelia was a bit upset and wanted mummy for a while, then got a nose bleed and stressed out over that.

Sunday morning we got up after the kids body clocks didn't realise that it was Sunday and they could sleep in at 6.30am! (I dont understand how kids seem to want to sleep in on days when we have to be somewhere yet when we don't they get up early!!!!!) So after watching a little bit of Wiggles in the tent we ventured into the house and had some breakfast. After chilling out we then got ready to got to Sunday Conference session. Again it was excellent! President Challis was released and we now have President Prebble as our New Stake President, we are really excited as he is such a great guy and is very youth focused, which is kinda the message we got fro alot of teh talks over the weekend. We then heard a few talks and then we watched the live video link from Salt Lake. After teh video finished we had a little lunch then Ryan, Coral, Lottie and Will went home while the rest of us stayed on the attend the Youth Fireside. Again it was excellent listening to the speakers. I have added details to the Young Women's blog on what the speakers were talking about.

After the fireside we went back to theCrossin house and packed up the tent and ate tea, the travelled home. It was such a great weekend but I must say that I enjoyed my bed last night as I was really tired. I think the kids were happy to be home to, although I know that Amelia misses the Crossins heaps as she just loves them so much!

Travelling to Church on Sunday

Our great BIG tent!

Abbey was a great helper over the weekend.

These are from Amelia's birthday a week or so ago. In the evening we took her to Maccas and ate ice cream. She was even luck to get a Sunday, a very big treat as we usually only ever get cones, cause they are cheaper.

Zoe loved theChocolate Frappe, it is really good to drink on a very hot day as it is crushed ice and has oreo biscuits crushed through it, with cream on top! William loving his ice cream cone was all excited to eat it with a spoon!
